Anaita Kharwanwala
Born and raised in Toronto, Anaita might be Indian-Canadian by heritage, but her heart beats to the rhythms of salsa and bachata! Her dance journey began back in 2015 when she stumbled into the world of Latin dance through the University of Ottawa Salsa Club (UoSalsa). What started as a casual hobby quickly grew into her passion - the community, culture, and music. Anaita felt at home, and soon she was leading as the President of UoSalsa and co-directing her own dance team, Resonancia!
From weekly beginner classes to congress performances across Canada, Anaita’s salsa and bachata journey has been nothing short of incredible. She’s taught countless students, choreographed routines, and in 2024, she took her talent on the road, leading bachata workshops in Quebec and Halifax.
In 2020, Anaita found her dance family with Araguacu, where she trains with a world-class artist, Kimberly Ramos. As part of Araguacu’s executive team and the director of the student bachata team, Anaita is known for her soft, graceful style and her genuine love for welcoming new dancers into the community. Whether she's teaching or on the dance floor, she radiates joy and passion.
For Anaita, dancing is for everyone! It doesn’t matter where you’re from, what language you speak, or how old you are—dance is a universal language that brings people together. She believes it’s all about expressing yourself freely while connecting to the music and your dance partner. It’s this inclusive and empowering philosophy that she shares with each and every student she teaches.
